MORE ZOOM
A few days ago, I posted a picture of an aircraft operated by ZOOM Air in Canada. The original shot can be seen here. I was talking with my friend Jim last night who flies for ZOOM and he gave me some more information.
If you look closely (sorry this shot was taken from a long distance), you’ll see an obvious loss of paint above the pilot’s window. This was caused by a lightning strike as the jet returned to Canada from Santa Domingo. The strike knocked out the weather radar but the crew was able to continue on to a safe landing here.
Jim has had a few strikes in his career and he says they’re very scary and you have a few anxious moments as you determine how many flight systems have been effected.
