THIS JUST IN

President George W. Bush demonstrates once again that simple tasks, like riding a bike or eating a pretzel, are too much for his motor skills.

This man has his finger on the nuclear button?

QUOTE OF THE DAY

John Kenneth Galbraith

“Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists in choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable.”

That reminds me, isn’t there some sort of big political meeting going on in Boston right now?

WOULD WOODY APPROVE?

In a previous post I led you to a hilarous little animation of Bush and Kerry singing “This Land Is Your Land” with highly modified lyrics. The original song was written by, of course, Woody Guthrie.

The present holders of the copyright are pissed off at the two brothers who created the animation and have threatened a lawsuit.

Now lawsuits are never funny but what makes this interesting is that Woody himself used these words as his standard copyright notice:

“This song is Copyrighted in U.S., under Seal of Copyright # 154085, for a period of 28 years, and anybody caught singin it without our permission, will be mighty good friends of ourn, cause we don’t give a dern. Publish it. Write it. Sing it. Swing to it. Yodel it. We wrote it, that’s all we wanted to do.”
