Quick on the heels of the “Prozac” goof mentioned in a previous post, another Bush representative has opened her mouth long enough to put her foot in.

The Arizona Daily Star requested press access for one of their photographers, Mamta Popat, to attend a rally being headlined by VP Cheney. One of the rally organizers proceeded to ask the race of the shutterbug. The reason given was laughable:

>Organizer Christine Walton asked for Popat’s race in telephone conversations with two other Star editors before she spoke to Hayt. They also refused to provide the information. Walton told Hayt that Popat’s race was necessary to allow the Secret Service to distinguish her from someone else who might have the same name.

Hmmm…would the question have arisen if her name was Jane Smith?
