Looking up Cathcart Street from Place Ville Marie in downtown Montreal. Mont Royal in the background. A cool crisp October day.

Jan in contemplation at Place Ville Marie before we started off on another round of shopping.

SUNDAY’S PICTURE

US Pavilion Expo 67

A very grainy photo of the old US Pavilion from Expo 67 in Montreal. Designed by Buckminster Fuller and Shoji Sadao, I remember the first time I saw this. Our family came up from Toronto and spent a week at the world’s fair. I was not quite 16 and to be allowed to roam freely made me feel very grown up. This is where I first smoked a russian cigarette (it sucked).
The US Pavilion was a masterpiece of design and content. Sadly, the outer skin was destroyed during a fire in 1980 and only the skeleton remains today.

Picture taken this morning at about 6:30 using the 800ASA setting on my camera and extreme zoom. I wish it could have been clearer.

SUNDAY IN MONTREAL

Early morning in Montreal. By early, I mean 5:30. Sometimes I just can’t sleep in hotels and this is one of them.
We had dinner last night at Queue De Cheval, one of Montreal’s best steakhouses. Dinner was great and it should be for $260! Prices have gone up since the last time we went there.
As soon as the sun starts coming up, I’m going down to Old Montreal to get some pictures.
