We were closing down the branch and we stayed right at the airport. Here we see a Westjet 737-700 series in the midst of a quick turnaround. I timed it out at about 20 minutes to arrive, unload, reprovision, reload and depart.

Westjet is one of the Canadian startup airlines that have given Air Canada fits and eventually forced them into bankruptcy protection that they’ve just now ended. No frills is the rule now and Westjet, modeled on the successful Southwest Airlines operation, is the number 2 airline in Canada.

SENSELESS

On Friday about 15 minutes walking distance from where I live a female teacher at Bramalea Secondary School was shot in the head as she walked to her car. She died later that night and her husband is in custody as police continue to investigate this senseless, horrific act.

Living in the Greater Toronto Area, we have our share of murders but it’s always frightening when they happen close to home. If it is determined that this is a case of domestic violence taken to the ultimate end, the sense of fear will only increase.

I cannot understand what drives a person to commit the most final of crimes. When that crime is perpetrated on someone you know, and supposedly loved at one time, it goes beyond all reason.

The more liquid you put on the fire, the sooner you put it out. Evergreen Aviation is putting the finishing touches on a refitted 747 that will become the largest water bomber in service. At 24,000 gallons a drop, this giant will be quite the addition to the smokeaters’ arsenal.
