The Chief must be spinning in his grave. The election campaign is barely a week old and already it’s shaping up to be one for the books.

The Canadian Auto Workers endorsed the Liberal party. The Conservatives, who brought in the hated GST, are suggesting a 1-2% cut while the Liberals (who opposed it bitterly) say that’s a bad idea. We have an astronaut , a Harvard professor and a TV personality parachuted in as “star candidates” to spice things up.

Of course, some things are running true to form. Stephen Harper is promising to reopen the question of same-sex marriage (exactly how do you unring a bell?) and attacking Paul Martin on the Gomrey Report while Martin does his best to paint Harper in neocon colours.

This is getting interesting.
