From an article discussing Boeing’s new 787 “Dreamliner” aircraft which is scheduled to go into service in 2008 – “Boeing’s goal is to churn out each plane in three days”.
I can’t quite get my head around that. Some wag once said that an airplane is a million parts flying in close formation. To put something that complicated together in 3 days and do it over and over again is quite a trick.
Of course, not one 787 has been built yet. The entire thing was computer designed and they’re just now getting ready to put together the first prototype. This hasn’t stopped the company from booking 432 orders.
