A Seattle rabbi with the Central Organization for Jewish Learning hired an attorney and threatened to sue if the airport did not erect an eight-foot menorah to balance the message of the Christmas trees. Rather than give in to this demand, which the airport authority reasoned would only result in other religions demanding the same treatment, all 15 trees were removed.
“Holiday” decorations (whatever that means) are still allowed.
UPDATE: The trees are going back up! The rabbi says he will not continue with his lawsuit so the airport authorities have decided to bring back the 14 trees.
