He was the voice of news as I was growing up.  When Walter Cronkite spoke you knew you were getting the facts. 

As we prepare to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing, to lose the man who brought the whole process into our homes is incredibly sad.  You could tell that he was so very excited and awed by the mechanics and the people of NASA’s space program and you couldn’t help but be caught up in the wonder of it all.  When Neil Armstrong set foot on the lunar surface, Walter cried.

This picture shows him announcing to the world that President John F Kennedy had died.  He cried again and the world cried with him.

And that’s the way it is.  And will never be again.
