Happy Birthday my love

For the second year in a row, Jan is in Vancouver working on her birthday.  It really sucks to be separated on special occasions and it has happened more often than I like.

Big shout out to the staff at the Hilton Hotel in Richmond BC for helping me surprise her yesterday with some flowers and a nice bottle of wine.  A simple phone call was all it took and Ashley at the hotel was a great pleasure to deal with.

A quiet Halloween

With Jan away in Vancouver on business, the last thing I had in mind was standing at the front door handing out candy.  Don’t get me wrong.  The little kids are a lot of fun to watch as they waddle up to the door, faces full of hope, in costumes that range from meh to Wow!  It’s the older ones who don’t even try – a ski jacket is not a costume.

So, it was off to Jake’s for drinks and dinner and then to a movie.  The staff at Jake’s always does a good job on their costumes.

Off to the movies.  Decided I needed a laugh so I went to see Zombieland with Woody Harrelson.  Not a bad way to waste a couple of hours.  Some very funny scenes and all the gore you would want on a Halloween night.
