Every Monday morning from 0400 to 0800 I say that hundreds of times. Since December I’ve been a volunteer part of the Welcome Team at Toronto’s largest airport and I’m having a great time doing my best to provide the traveling public fast, reliable information to demystify the flying experience. After over 1/4 million miles flown on business and pleasure trips I decided that it would be fun to hang around airports and give back a little. So many people come through the doors with that dazed look on their face that we’ve all seen (some times in the mirror). A friendly face, a smile and a quick set of directions go a long, long way – most of my interactions last no longer than 10 seconds.
If you’re in the Greater Toronto Area and this sounds like fun, the airport is looking for more volunteers. Information can be found here. Don’t worry, they have other shifts.
