This Day In Aviation History – 1964 – Golden Hawks Disbanded

 February 7, 1964.  The RCAF Golden Hawk  aerobatic flying team established in 1959 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the RCAF and the “Golden” 50th anniversary of Canadian flight, was disbanded.  The Golden Hawks flew 317 shows in their distinctively painted Canadair Sabre 5s  first led by Squadron Leader Fern Villeneuve and then  James McCombe.
