On 8 March 1910,  Raymonde de Laroche became the first woman in the world to receive a pilot licence when the Aero-Club of France issued her licence #36 of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (International Aeronautics Federation or F.A.I.).

March 3 to 9 is  Women Of Aviation Worldwide Week, to celebrate the accomplishment of women in aviation and to introduce the joy to a new generation.  The Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre at The Region of Waterloo International Airport and COPA have events planned today in Waterloo.
